Free Post

My research project is going very well for me. I am very interested in my topic, so I am not completely bored with it. I feel like my rough draft is going to be easy to make, because my outline is pretty good. I also have a lot of good information that support my arguments.

I have a feeling that this research paper will probably be my best essay this year. Although, I have never been very strong in writing, but I feel very confident. My outline is organized very well and my all of my arguments answer my research question very well. This will make it easier for me to turn my outline into a rough draft. I hope that I will do a good job of revising and editing so that my paper will be best I can make it before turning it in.

Reading Response

The book Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie is a very different and weird book. It is nothing like any other book i have ever read. The Alexie starts off the novel is very weird. The book starts off with the narrator telling us about his head being full of water. Then he talks about how his dog, Oscar, is very sick and they ended having to kill him.

Junior, the narrator, also explains to us how separate the indians and white people are in the story. He gives us this idea of how separate they are from white people through a lot of detail. It is interesting to me how Junior decided so quickly to go to a completely different school. It was also interesting to me how his parents let him make that decision since it is more expensive and that Junior's family is poor.

Research Topic

My research topic is the Chernobyl explosion. I found this by looking at a long list of topics, and when I saw the word "Chernobyl," I new it sounded familiar to me. I think I saw a TV show about the Chernobyl explosion one time, so that is probably why it sounded so familiar to me. All I remember from the show was that it was a nuclear explosion that released a great amount of radiation. Then I started reading one of the articles in the database and it seemed more interesting to me than I thought.

The Chernobyl explosion happened on April 26, 1986. The explosion released tons of radiation that mostly spread to parts of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. Lighter levels of radiation also spread throughout Europe. There were was a large amount of short-term deaths from the explosion. There were also long-term affects from the radiation, such as thyroid, and other types of cancer. My research question is "What are the significant impacts that the Chernobyl explosion had on the citizens of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine?"

Last Semester

Last semester I learned that high school is a lot different from middle school. After a few weeks of being in high school I felt like eighth grade didn't prepare me too well for high school. It took a while for me to get used to the schedule and being in high school in general. At first, my grades weren't as good as I expected them to be. Once I got used to what the classes were like in high school, I was able to push my grades up a little bit.

I have also learned that you need to spend more time on homework in high school than in middle school. You also need to manage your time better because you are much more independent in high school than in middle school. At the beginning of the year when I was struggling a little bit, I had a hard time figuring out which teacher I should go see during tutorial. I also had to figure out when I should go see the teacher. For some reason this stressed me out a little bit, but I eventually was able to figure everything out.

Free Post

My dog is a fun dog to have. She is not like any other dog. Her name is Annabelle, but when my family got her, she was name cricket. At first I didn't like that name, but now I wish we called her that because it is funny.  I don't know what Annabelle is, but all I know is that she has some lab in her. This is what makes her interesting.

Annabelle sheds a lot. Every time she runs into the house, a bunch of hair flies off. She is a funny dog, because sometimes I will be sitting on the back porch and out of no where Annabelle starts sprinting in circles. My dad thinks she is crazy. She is very playful and loving. Annabelle always escapes the backyard or from out the front door. When I go look for her she is usually in the same spot.

Research

My research is going well. I am finding many interesting articles on the Chernobyl explosion. Mostly everything we've done on the research project so far hasn't been too difficult. The easiest part for me has been finding sources related to my research question. I am glad this was easy for me, so now I don't have to worry too much about finding other sources.

The most difficult part of the research project so far has been the annotations. When we first started working on the annotations, I was confused and worried, but I eventually figured out how to do the first one. After doing the first annotation, it was much easier to do the rest. Although, it was a little difficult picking what sources I should use for my annotations since I had 12 sources. I think that doing the notecards won't be too difficult.
