Writing Center Reflection
When I went to the writing center me and my writing partner worked on revising my draft. The first thing he told me to do was read it aloud to him. This was to see if there were any mistakes in my draft and it was for him to give me advice on how to improve it. He gave me some advice on my first body paragraph. We also looked over my conclusion.
The advice that my writing partner gave me was helpful, but it wasn't much. The session didn't last as long as I that it was going to be. This is because he didn't give much advice. I feel like I didn't make as much progress as I expected from going to the writing center.

Student Prompt
Describe the most memorable moment that has happened in your life so far and why it is memorable.
The most memorable moment of my life so far happened not too long ago over the summer of 2016. This was when I went to Alaska with my family. Everything in Alaska was very beautiful, especially the mountains. The climate was the complete opposite of Louisiana, because it was cool and dry while Louisiana's climate was hot and humid over the summer. It also rain a lot in Alaska, but whenever it rained it didn't rain hard.
Alaska was so memorable by to me because it was my first time going there and I got to experience many new things. One of my favorite memories was feeling hot and humid weather in Louisiana and then feeling the cool and dry weather of Alaska once I got off the plane. Another memory was a wild fire we saw on our way to the lodge we were staying at. This was the first time I have ever seen a wildfire. During this trip I was able to get closer to my family since my dad is working all the time and I was able to experience new things with them.

The pineapple that I am staring at keeps making me think about what is on the inside. Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. I can't stop thinking about the delicious taste it has. Usually when I bite into a piece of pineapple, there is a lot of water which makes the pineapple juicy.
This pineapple is mostly green with many shades of yellow on it. Like every other pineapple it has the spiny leaves that come out of the top of the pineapple. I have always wondered about the spiny leaves on pineapples. What is the point of those leaves?
Literary Analysis
The easiest part so far on the draft was making the introduction. Although, it took me a while to figure out how to start the introduction. Once I got the first sentence, I was able to find more ideas that led into my thesis. One thing that helped me make my introduction was looking at other examples of introductions. The examples were all similar in how they were set up, so that gave an idea of how I should set up my introduction.
Even though I have not gotten to my conclusion yet, I feel like that it will be the hardest part of the draft. I have actually read an essay to see what the conclusions is like. Similarly to my introduction I need to see how the conclusion is set up, so that I have an idea for how to set up mine. For those who are struggling with their conclusion or introduction I would recommend reading some examples of them. Even though I haven't gotten to my conclusion yet, I believe that it will help me, because it definitely helped me with my introduction.

Symbolism
I finally got my braces off this week. I had to wait two years of dealing with the braces. Every time I went to the orthodontist, I felt pain. The pain lasted for almost a week each time I went to the orthodontist. I had to deal with getting food out from in between my braces every time I brushed my teeth.
Once I got my braces off I was so relieved that I didn't have to deal with pain or getting food out from in between my braces. But, then my orthodontist said that he had to put spacers in to close up a gap between some of my teeth. I also have to get a retainer, so now I have to deal with more metal in my mouth. It seems that I can never escape this struggle of braces.

How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
If you are craving to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwich right now, here is how you make one. First, you take out the the bread. It can be any kind bread you prefer. Second, you get the jelly, and it can be any flavor you want. Then you get the peanut butter, and some people prefer the crunchy peanut butter with the peanuts in it and others just like the plain peanut butter. You can use a knife or a spoon to spread the peanut butter and jelly. Then use the knife or spoon to spread the peanut butter on on one slice of bread and do the same with the jelly on another slice of bread. Finally, you slap the two slices of bread together and you have a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Critical Scene
On page 127, Jack says, "I'm going off by myself. He can catch his own pigs. Anyone who wants to come hunt when I hunt can come too." This is important to the story, because it is what starts the splitting up of the group of boys. When Jack says, "I'm going off by myself," he is disagrees with Ralph's rules. This can represent society splitting up and how poor the leadership is.
When Jack says, "He can catch his own pigs," he is referring to Ralph. Although, Ralph isn't as focused on hunting, because he is more concerned about building a fire for smoke and being rescued. Then Jack says, "Anyone who wants to come hunt when I hunt can come too." This grabs most of the biguns' attention, because eventually most of them become savages. This splitting up of the group boys shows that they don't really know how to decide on what to do and that they don't know how to make the group organized into different jobs.

Saturday was my last day of driver's education from 8:00 to 3:00. I had to take the test and I was ready to get it over with. The man teaching the class said we would take the test at 2:45, so I had to wait a while till I could take the test. Luckily, the teacher gave us a few breaks. We also had a 30 minute lunch break around 12:30.
This was probably the most boring class I have ever taken. The teacher talked super slow and told us tons of stories. When it was finally time to take the test, I was relieved, because I knew that the test was going to be extremely easy and that I would be done with taking the class. The first question on the test was probably the hardest question fro me, but the rest of the test was a breeze. It took me less than ten minutes to take it.

Prompt
Prompt: What is your favorite holiday or break and why?
My favorite holiday is Christmas, because it is a relaxing break from school and it is a time to be with my family. It is nice to get a two week break from school and not have to worry about doing any work. Usually over the Christmas holiday, I will go up to my camp with my family. I love to go up to my camp during the holiday when it has cooled down significantly, and I get to enjoy nature. One of my favorite things to do when it is cold at my camp is to sit by the fire, especially after going hunting in the morning.
Christmas isn't just a time of having fun or relaxing, it is also a time of celebrating. Every year on Christmas Eve, my family and I go to a church service to celebrate Jesus' birth. After the service we go to my grandparents' house and eat dinner with the whole family. Every year my grandparent's would make gumbo on Christmas Eve. After dinner we do a gift exchange with many funny gifts. This is my favorite tradition, so I hope it never goes away and that my family will continue doing it.

Response to LOTF
The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. Once there was this and that; and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...]
"The rules!" shouted Ralph. "You're breaking the rules!"
"Who cares?"
Ralph summoned his wits.
"Because the rules are the only thing we've got!"
But Jack was shouting against him.
"Bollocks to the rules! We're strong--we hunt! If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down! We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91)
The beginning of this passage is talking about how time is passing and how the boys are becoming further away from society. This is important because as time goes on the boys seem to forget more about society except for Ralph. Throughout this passage Ralph, as the chief, is having trouble keeping organization within the boys. Jack is Ralph's biggest problem when trying to keep the group of boys together and organized. All Jack wants to do is hunt pigs for food, but Ralph is more worried about getting rescued.
This passage is important to the story, because Jack and Ralph's ideas of surviving on the island are completely different. This is what leads the two boys to split up later in the novel. With Ralph and Jack splitting up, the littluns have trouble choosing who's side to take. If the littluns go with Jack, they will be fed with meat and have fu. If they go with Ralph they will have to work to hopefully be rescued.

Response to "Lord of the Flies"
The beginning of the book "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding, has confused a little bit. I understand the basic ideas of the setting, POV, characters, and plot. I am a little confused about the time period of the novel. I am debating whether it is in the future or the past. I also understand what the conch and the beast are supposed to represent in the novel.
This book is a little strange to me, because it is very different than any other book that I have read. There is a lot of symbolism in "Lord of the Flies." I predict that kids will be able to create a system with many different jobs for their survival. I also think that the system may fall apart. I hope that I will be able to enjoy reading this book and that it will keep my attention.

Human Nature
There are many ideas about human nature that I believe in, but the most important or the one that I believe in the most is that no human is perfect. There is no human that is completely flawless. I believe that it is impossible for a human to be flawless. People may think that they are perfect, but everybody makes mistakes. Mistakes are basically an everyday thing for people.
I have learned and believe this idea about human nature from books, family, and religion. I have read many different books that teach the same moral about the idea that no human is perfect. There are also many TV shows that I have seen that teach the exact same moral. My family has taught me this idea, but my religion is what really made me understand this idea. At church when we talk about stories from the Bible, the people in the stories also make many mistakes. This proves to me that no human can be perfect.

Q2 Week 1 Free Post
This fall break I am going to my camp to help my dad get our food plots ready for hunting season. I actually already went on a fishing trip with my family. We left Wednesday right after school and fished part of Thursday and came home. Then on Friday we will leave for our camp. We are going to stay Friday and Saturday night and come back Sunday.
My dad said that we will have to do a lot of work on the food plots. The food plots are meant for the deer to feed off of during deer hunting season. That is why we need to get the food plots ready this weekend. Hopefully we will have some time to relax or take a break from working. I also hope that our food plots will be planted in time for deer season.

Q2 Week 1 Post
I am still reading the book "Four Blind Mice" by James Dashner. I have finally got to the climax of the book where Alex Cross finds the names of the three killers that he is looking for. These three killers' code name is "Three Blind Mice." They served in the army in Vietnam together, so that is where they got their code name. I am eager to know what happens when Alex Cross meets and talks to the three men.
I think that the ending of the book will be very exciting to read. My prediction for the end of the book is that when Alex meets and talks with them, they well pull a trick on Alex and get away. I hope that the ending will keep my attention and make me want to read another one of James dasher's books. I also hope that the ending will surprise me in a good way. I will be very disappointed if the end is boring and doesn't surprise me at all.

Read and Respond
The article "Should We Abandon Louisiana? In some ways we already have." by Zack Kopplin, talks about the flood of Louisiana in 2016. Many people have suffered from the flood having to evacuate their homes. The floods were the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in America. People outside of Louisiana think that we should abandon Louisiana or not rebuild, because all we do is suffer. In contrast we think that we should rebuild and not give up on our state.
This idea brings up the question, "Should we rebuild Louisiana?" I think we should rebuild Louisiana, because we can't just give up on our state. If we gave up, then we would basically have to restart our lives. Although, Louisiana has been through much suffering, we can still rebuild.

Response to Book
I am still reading a book called "Four Blind Mice" by James Patterson. This book is wonderfully written and it keeps me turning the page. There is constantly something interesting going on.
Although, the reader has to be patient, because it takes a while to get to the climax of the novel. The author did a great job of building up ideas for the climax.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about detectives solving cases, and trying to prove someone innocent. There is a good bit of action in the book to make reader not get bored about reading just about crime solving. The author also added some romance. The way the author combines these things makes the book interesting for the reader.

This weekend I went to a tennis tournament in Jackson, Mississippi. The tournament was called River Hills Tennis Tournament and it was a level 3, which is a pretty high level tournament. All week I couldn't wait to go to Jackson, and I was hoping that I would play well. I also ordered a new pair of shoes, because my old shoes had a bunch of holes in them.
When it got to Friday, everything just went downhill. The first thing that happened was that my new shoes didn't come in, so I couldn't play in them. The next thing that happened was on Saturday, when I lost my first match at 9:30. I played terribly in that match, so all of my hoping of playing well that week didn't pay off. When my next match came along, I realized I had to play one of my friends that I practice with, so I came all the way to Jackson to play against someone I play with every week. I also played terribly in that match and I lost. My brother also lost both of his matches.

100 Word Story
I have been stranded out in the middle of a forest for about five days so far. I don't know how I got here, but all I remember is waking up and being surrounded by trees. I have hunted small animals and found a place by a pond to make a camp. My camp is small and made of sticks and branches that have fallen. I have also made a spear made of a stick and a sharp rock for hunting and fishing. I have not moved around to much, because all I am trying to do is wait and see if anything happens. Maybe an airplane will fly over or I might encounter a hunter. If nothing happens in about two days then I will start to cover more land.
My two days are up and now I have started to travel to maybe find civilization. Everyday has basically been the same since I have started moving. After a long night of sleeping, I get up and try to cover as much land as I can then once the sun starts to go down I go on a hunt to find a squirrel, rabbit, or maybe a bird to eat. Then I go back to sleep to rest up for the next day. I don't know how much longer I will be stranded, but hopefully a miracle will happen.

Week 5 Post 1
Plot map in the book "Four Blind Mice" by James Patterson is easily identified. The book starts off with the exposition explaining who the characters are and what the characters job is or what there mission is. The main character in this book is Alex Cross and he is a detective trying to find the murderers of three women. Alex's friend, John Sampson, has a friend named Ellis Cooper who accused of murdering the three women, but they believe Ellis Cooper didn't do it.
The rising action of the book is Alex Cross and John Sampson trying to find the three murderers of the three women. Ellis Cooper was on death row and he was eventually executed, but Alex and John wanted to keep looking for the three murderers. More murders keep happening so Alex and John are getting closer and closer to finding the three murderers. I haven't gotten to the climax of the book yet, but I can tell that it isn't far.

Dear 11 year old
Dear 11 year old,
Be different and always be yourself. I was different when I was moving into middle school and I was a little worried about being that way. I was like this throughout mostly sixth grade. Then I eventually realized that going to school and being yourself doesn't hurt you, because no one is going to judge you.
The only person I was probably ever judged by was my brother, but that was just we were always picking on each other. If you just be yourself all your friends will probably enjoy being with you better. Also, when your being yourself you are expressing who you are. That is a good thing, because if you don't express who you are then your friends probably won't get to know you as well.

Narrative
I am writing a narrative about my family and I going to Alaska. From the start I knew that my narrative was going to be long. I was right about that, because it explained everything that happened while I was in Alaska. It was also around a whopping 1,900 words. I had a feeling that I was going to have to shorten it one way or another.
I learned that I should just focus on writing about one specific experience throughout my whole trip in Alaska. Now I knew what one of the things Dr. D was going to tell me when she met with me, but focusing on one specific event wasn't the only thing. I had add more vivid detail and write about the significance of my narrative. After this meeting with Dr. D, I started revising my narrative. When I revised it, it seemed to me I was starting over my narrative, but I got take ideas from my first draft.

Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was extremely devastating for most of the people in the south. When the hurricane hit land it was a category 3 hurricane. Category 5 hurricanes are the worst of all the categories, but Katrina still did tons of damage to cities and towns. Katrina was so widespread that it harmed three whole states. Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana were severely affected by Katrina.
Katrina itself did tons of damage, but what happened after was worse. There were floods throughout the south that caused even more damage to cities and towns. All of this harm to houses costed loads of money. Katrina was the most catastrophic event in the south.

So far "Four Blind Mice," by James Patterson, is a very interesting book. This book keeps me interested, because there is always something new happening even though it is just the beginning of the book. Each chapter skips around with what is going on with the characters. One chapter will be talking about the lawyer Alex, and then the next chapter will be about the three blind mice. I like it how the author did this so that I will know what is happening between the different characters.
The three blind mice are a group of three men that do cruel things like murdering people. There is another man named Sergeant Ellis Cooper who was accused of murdering three innocent women, and is now in jail on death row. Sergeant Ellis Cooper didn't murder the women, the three blind mice did. Alex is trying to prove that Cooper did not murder the women. This makes me wonder when and how Alex will find out that the three blind mice are the murderers.

Last week I didn't realize we had a three day weekend until Thursday. I also forgot that it was labor day weekend. I was very excited, because I didn't have to worry on Sunday about getting up early to go to school. On Friday when I got home I decided to do most of my homework so I wouldn't have to worry about getting it all done on Monday. Then on Saturday I went to tennis practice from 10:00-1:00, and when I got back home I got to relax and watch the LSU football game with my family.
On Sunday, my mom and I got up to go to church. Once we got back from church, we ate some lunch and then headed to our camp in Mississippi. We stopped by my mom's friends house to see how she was doing, because she got flooded. Then we stopped by my grandparents house since they lived near by. Once we got to our camp my brother and I went fishing for a little bit, and then watched a football game on TV. On Monday my brother and I went fishing again, and then we shot our dad's pistol with our dad. Finally we packed up and went home.

The first week of high school was very exhausting. I was not used to waking up so early, because over the summer I got to sleep late. Everyday seemed extremely long. It also took a while for me to know my schedule. Good thing I didn't have much homework during the week.
After the first day of school I was a little overwhelmed about the schedule and the work we were going to do. Since our schedule will be the same for a while it is easier to know the schedule. It is also very different than the middle school schedule. The start of the second week made me a little bit more comfortable about what work we are going to do and what we are learning about. I hope that I will eventually feel completely comfortable about high school.

Right now I am reading "Four Blind Mice" by James Patterson. It is a crime investigating book with a lawyer named Alex Cross, trying to find evidence to find a man put in jail for murdering. The man claims that he wasn't the murderer. Most people believe he is the murderer, but he isn't.
The author wrote this book in a way that keeps me interested. The chapters are also very short, so there is always something new and exciting happening. The man who was accused of murdering doesn't have long until his execution and Alex is running out of time. This also keeps me turning the page. "Four Blind Mice" is a great book and I would recommend it for people who like rime investigating.

One book that I read this summer was "The Scorch Trials" by James Dashner. This was a perfect book for me, because it was action-packed and suspenseful. There was suspense at about every moment, because it seemed like almost anything could at any moment. There was a lot of fighting which made the book very interesting to me.
I also loved the way the author made two friends act like they betrayed each other. This kept me turning the page. Although, I was a little confused when the friends acted like they betrayed each other, because it was hard to tell if they actually betrayed one another. Eventually the author revealed that they were clearly still friends.
