Hurricane Katrina was extremely devastating for most of the people in the south. When the hurricane hit land it was a category 3 hurricane. Category 5 hurricanes are the worst of all the categories, but Katrina still did tons of damage to cities and towns. Katrina was so widespread that it harmed three whole states. Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana were severely affected by Katrina.
Katrina itself did tons of damage, but what happened after was worse. There were floods throughout the south that caused even more damage to cities and towns. All of this harm to houses costed loads of money. Katrina was the most catastrophic event in the south.
